Katie and Hayden get no-sew wrap dresses

Amidst the dust of construction of their kitchen, Katie and Hayden still have time and energy for looking nice.

These dresses are based on the How to Make a No-Sew Doll Dress tutorial from My Froggy Stuff.

I planned some variations while examining the 40%-off knits at Joann. Katie's dress is made from a reversible fabric, thus the polka-dot lapels. Her ribbon belt is hidden under the big lapel.

Hayden's dress is a knit fabric with rows of patterned ruffles, so the ruffles at the neck create the sleeves. Her ribbon belt is completely hidden under a ruffle.

The girls are a bit awkward in posing in their new finery.

I now have enough of these knits--and a coordinating solid for each--to sew an entire knit wardrobe. It may be a bit monotonous for the girls, but good knits are surprisingly hard to find in Phoenix. Plus, in their small apartment, closet space is at a premium, so they need to make every garment pay its way.
