Super-duper hero gals

Then there's the moment when you go to write about one new acquisition and realize there are at least two comparable dolls that haven't been blogged yet... and one is from two Christmases ago. OKAY THEN.

The new girl seems a little... cold, somehow.
The newbie is supposed to be DC Superhero Girl "Frost," a.k.a. Caitlin Snow, the gal second from the left in blue, light blue, and more blue. During a random Walmart wallow, Mom spotted her and talked me into rescuing the poor girl. When the doll is marked down to $4, it's hard to make the case against buying.

It looks like Frost has the same head mold as Bumblebee, whom we have seen before (two full years ago). The newbies who may not have shown up until now are Bratz Action Heroez Phoebe (who, in typical Bratz fashion is so over it all), and SpacePOP Juno (our purple punk pal on the far right).

"We are NOT singing 'Ebony and Ivory' at karaoke, Caitlin. I mean it."
We're going to take a closer look at Frost and Juno... and since this is a fashion doll blog, yes, we do have to take our clothes off to have a good time, so that's after the jump.

"Damn your back is cold, girl."
The girls turn out to have similar body types, though Frost is made by Mattel (thus the Monster High-ish shape, though with bigger feet and a more muscular physique), while Juno is made by... Madame Alexander. To say "this is not your mother's Madame Alexander" is the understatement of the decade.

Somewhere, there's a sociology/pop culture studies paper in how the Monster High body type (skinny as all get out, small bosom, sway back) became the norm for fashion dolls portraying characters that aren't quite standard humans.

Frost can sit like a lady, though her legs are a bit long for the settle that goes in the Meow Manor kitchen. The settle is a yellow-ish off-white, so you're not imagining a faint grayish cast to Frost's skin.
"Paint me like your French girls."
Juno cannot sit like a lady. Juno cares nothing for your standards of appropriate feminine behavior.

"Manspreading? Ha! I will show you space princess rock star spreading!"
Juno and the other SpacePOP gals take the concept of a tribe of princesses about as far as it can go. Oh yes, they're princesses! (Everything's better with princesses.) They're also from outer space! And they form their own rock band!

Juno is the drummer, as well as (canonically), the princess who physically kicks ass and takes names. So basically she smacks the shitzu out of everything. (Cue "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick."

Juno is so kick-ass that she has actual pockets in her clothes.

Behold the confidence of a woman whose clothing has real pockets.
Frost does not have pockets. Here she is without her plastic ice accessories.

"It's okay, Frost -- I've got a backpack somewhere."

The girls gather to discuss the weekend's superheroing activities. Phoebe is planning to make a casserole for the other tall Bratz, to celebrate National Macaroni and Cheese Day. Juno has a gig at the Lost Leaf. And Bumblebee is trying to convince Frost that taking a walk along Phoenix's Grand Canal Trail in July is a terrible idea.

"You'll cause a storm with flash flooding, Frost."

  2. First of all, it's always good to see a post from you. Secondly....your mom sounds really cool!!!!! My mom didn't collect dolls (except those I collected for her) but we did share a passion for fashion. Your dolls are really cute. I think Frost is a nice addition to the family! Love her dress!
