Let's combine being a crazy cat lady and a crazy doll hoarder!

Somebody thinks he's had kittens.
Some of my kittens look similar and some look completely different because with kittens, you never know.
This is the first time the Feline-American member of the household has shown an interest in the dolls. He went so far as to lick the head of the brunette in front of him.

I wasn't going to go thrifting this afternoon, but... the southbound bus I usually take homeward arrived three minutes early, while I was still on the far side of a major street with heavy traffic. That particular bus driver visibly takes delight in abandoning passengers -- I miss his predecessor and will be so glad when the next driver rotation comes up in a few months -- so of course, he didn't wait for me, even though he was early.

So I figured I'd take the northbound bus, switch to an 80-Shea/Northern, and go see about the Goodwill that replaced the Savers up somewhere around the intersection of Shea and 32nd Street.

"Somewhere" turns out to be 32nd Street and Cactus, which Google Maps swears is only an extra mile's walk, but I'm not so sure about that. I arrived at Goodwill as the last streaks of sunset disappeared behind a mountain, hoping that this trip would justify itself.

I spent a whopping $6, so pricing was on a par with Dollar Tree and lower than, say, Dollar General. I'm not sure who's sticking around, who's going into the body farm, and who's for resale yet.

Right now, I feel like something the cat dragged in.
2012 Life in the Dreamhouse Summer is not one of my favorite face-ups. She looks like she's agreeing with things for the sake of agreeing with them and would really like to throw iced-tea in somebody's face. However, she has a ton of articulation.

This gal has fewer points of articulation but fascinates me.

Lickable hair, certified by the finest cats.
She's a Teresa from some time in the 1990s, and that's all I know. She's on an old "fully jointed" body, thus the visible pins at the arms, wasp waist, and mitten hands. And she really does have incredibly silky hair, plus she obviously predates the era when all dolls started to be required to have ultra-long hair for "hair play."

Bonjour! Mes cheveux sont un casque.
Equipped with the exact same face, this one is Barbie Basics series 001, model 11. I don't know if I intend to rebody her or simply to admire her for some indeterminate period and then pass her on. It' possible that she and the Teresa above her are going to stick around as twins who took rather different life paths.

Fashionistas by the dozen, Fashionistas by the bunch!
More Fashionistas, handy as body donors. Sporty/Teresa is more common at thrift around here than any of the others; I could by now have a clone army of Teresas.

Tending the kittens has made us very tired!

    1. They're secretly all the same cat -- they just move around so fast that we think we have different ones.

It occurred to me much, much later that the 1990s Teresa is essentially what I was looking at on eBay back in October, at higher prices, so I finally got my Teresa face-sculpt!

    1. Perhaps there will be Cat Help in the future...

"Solid" is the absolute best I've ever done at thrift here. I boggle at the amazing stuff people in other cities find, but if we've got a Goodwill on that level, it's super-sekrit.

  4. Great thrift finds...though the cat steals the show! I really like the older style Teresa. She looks like a character with an interesting story to tell.

    1. Thanks! It was all "OMG, I got a 1990s doll instead of the usual 2011-2012 ones!"

  6. Wow! you found a whole bunch of them! I love the old Teresa sculpt too, she's the one gal that is missing in my MM collection, but I haven't been able to choose between the Cindy Lauper and BB s001. Now I'm curious to know if any of my girls have lickable hairs.....LOL

    1. Cindy Lauper is gorgeous! I'm glad I found BB 001 because of her 1930s vibe, but Cindy's in another class entirely.
